Two Mails that killed Whitenoise

Prologue These two mails marked the end of Whitenoise. This brain-child of mine came into existence to make the living simple and facts more reliable. In our over communicated society marketing message is everywhere, everyone claims to be best or number one (a few on relevant attribute (s) of the brand, other on not-so-relevant attribute and while rest on entirely irrelevant attributes). Advertising does the work of showing forest in barren land. The mental-masturbation that these groups of pseudo (read creative and all) go through is simply mind boggling to what effect? To make our life hell? I believe, we are born as a human not as a consumer. Product /Brand is just a part (though somewhat big and necessary part) of our life. This initiative was to make us realize that we were born human not a consumer and we will be happy if we are left like that only. I also believe in old model of information sharing (instead of two-tier model of Mass Media) and this in turn strengthens the human bond and trust can again be instilled in the society and each other. We are fighting against the clutter, the noise, the carpet bombing that Mass media advertising is doing everyday and in turn making the life of average human very, very, very noisy. We are fighting against the PR attempt to buy the Society Watchdog make the individual more distrustful of every business activity. Information always had been noun. Then came digital revolution and it transformed ‘Information’ and now it is verb as well BUT we believe as it’s being a preposition rather. We strive to bring home this trust to people all across. This initiative, Whitenoise was brought down by its own team of people and I, THE FATHER, of this child lamented, mourned. Now it’s time for all of us to know the real reason behind it. Two mails that ceased the existence of Whitenoise and reason behind it can be found hidden in both the mails. I forgot to mention 40-50 calls and number of messages in my mail. Mail 1 Dear All, Without wasting any of yours valuable time let’s come directly to the issue at hand. On the auspicious day of Tuesday, July 17 2007, I sent a mail to all of us, whose subject line read, The Way Ahead for Whitenoise and Synopsis of last meeting. It’s not easy to deal with the best companies, leader of the pack. They make big claims, to be the best, on time services, no waiting line etc., but their services suck, big time. ICICI bank is one such company. In the name of superior services, they’ll create all those hooplas and make you pay through the noses. Increasing their minimum deposit limit for savings account and decreasing their credit periods on credit cards is there way of maintaining efficient customer service. This bank has something new to offer. I did not get excited on this and neither have I expected your excitement. They have recently declared, if a credit card customer of ICICI banks wants to pay their bills in cash at their branches, the consumers will have to pay Rs. 100 extra, I believe as a fine of using their services. Com’on after so much, how can you come to us and if you are coming, I presume you have some extra weight in your pocket. Let’s share it. Another rule they deployed is, if you have a ICICI bank savings account in one state and deposit a sum of money in another state, you’ll be charged. Fair enough, every bank does that. No. not every, there are some tiny, little, unprofitable buffoons who render this service for free. To make profit ICICI charges Rs. 190 where as a public sector bank like State Bank of India charges Rs. 25 for the same service. And though, unlike others, their customer care kids (not professionals, no one is professional in any customer care department) will come quickly on the phone but the effect is all the same like every other companies, unable to answer the phone. Poorly literate, ill-informed, kids will give you a blunt and recorded reply. They will just rant the memorized script without knowing the effect and meaning of their words. Generally I don’t write to companies, talking about my problem (I know they won’t care) but when I feel like screaming FUCK YOU, I start stroking the keyboard. Should I hope that you must have understood this obvious fact that like me no other consumer does look for lead time while making a purchase online. If and i wish only if I had taken a bit time out to care for this thing called “Lead Time”; I assure you, I would not have dared to order any stuff from rediff. A Date with Hewlett-Packard (HP)

Introduction I was quite enthusiastic when I bought my Tablet PC from Hewlett-Packard (HP). And adding onto my excitement was offer of getting free iPod Shuffle and other gifts from HP. But this excitement was bound to be short lived, as I was dealing with a highly professional American born MNC, Hewlett-Packard (HP). After trying to get in touch for number of days and after number of calls I thought of writing to them and thanking them for support they have extended and see how quickly I got my work done. My Mail Hello!! At the onset I should thank HP for the extended support and the lesson in Patience (though not required) that you people taught me with your delayed response. It was quite foolhardy on my part to even think of in my wildest dream to get the gifts within as small a period as one month. It has been just a month since I sent all the required document along with Demand Draft and how can I expect any action this soon. And thanks for the enlightenment that you people gave in Hindu philosophy, I never knew any American MNC believed so deeply in the philosophies of patience and dharma. What All have done to get my gifts, just sent my document on 5th of September 2006 and after that just followed up with 10-12 calls and each time being on hold for just 30-35 minutes, that’s it?  I admit it’s not too much to get things done in a corporate world, one need to push hard and this philosophy of perseverance and hard work can be learned just by dialing HP redemption cell and the amazing news is its FREE!
